Consumer Products

"When customers make a decision to add capacity, it's because it is needed today to fill the pipeline, so getting the molds debugged and making acceptable parts is critical."
John Sauber, V.P. of Engineering

Providing for the Masses Consumer Products

Today's shoppers have more choices available to them than ever before. OEMs of consumer products often face the challenge of maintaining high volume production while at the same time reacting to shifts in consumer preferences and enhancing their products to satisfy the demand. Sometimes on-time delivery, open communication, on-the-fly adjustments, and quick response times are just as critical to the success of a customer's project as meeting the physical specifications of the parts.

Project Background

We started back in 1997 working with the engineers at a major toothbrush manufacturer to produce a 1+1 prototype mold for a new line of brushes. Matrix was integral in establishing initial mold shrinkage and eventually aided in modifying the part design for increased performance.

Challenges

Tooth Brush As Matrix built more production molds and head inserts, we provided complete design support, manufacturing, and customer service which extended through the tool try-out phase and final quality approval of brushes ready for production and sale to the public. We found that the bigger challenge here was not the complexity of the tools themselves, but helping the customer keep up with the rapidly growing demand for their product! We ensured that lead engineers and toolmakers were able to perform on-site maintenance and debugging as needed to maximize uptime on the customer's production floor.
